230% Application Growth Through Service Design for Complex Financial Journeys

About ICFAL

For the past 28 years, ICFAL has been helping Australian households with ethical home financing and investments. Noticing a slowdown in conversions, ICFAL partnered with Futurereadyx to build a digital strategy that would deliver better customer experiences and strengthen its online presence.

Impact Metrics

ICFAL transformed from reactive WordPress emergency mode to proactive digital operations. Help centre content gets updated in minutes rather than waiting days for developer availability, applications flow automatically into Salesforce CRM, and customers engage with calculators that guide financial decisions rather than guessing at affordability.

The Challenge

ICFAL faced the friction that plagues many financial services organisations: manual application processes - some paper-based - WordPress security and performance battles that consumed IT resources, and disconnected systems that created inconsistent customer experiences. When customers need to calculate affordability, understand products and submit applications with confidence, platform limitations become conversion killers.

01

Research and Discovery Done Seriously Well

Futurereadyx carried out a deep research and discovery process spanning eight weeks to understand the problems ICFAL faced from both a brand and digital experience point of view. Methods included customer interviews, information architecture audit and analysis, and heat-map analysis.
What we uncovered: manual applications and broken digital forms created unnecessary friction in decision-making; customers needed tools to self-qualify and understand affordability before committing; WordPress performance and security issues undermined credibility in an industry where trust is everything; and there was no clear path from initial interest to completed application.

Intelligent Calculators as Journey Accelerators

We designed and developed world-class home finance, car finance, investment and stamp duty calculators that transformed customer research into qualified applications. These weren't just tools - they were conversation starters. High usage rates indicate customers are self-qualifying and understanding products before applying, meaning ICFAL receives better-quality applications from more informed prospects.

Conversational Forms with Salesforce CRM Integration

We transformed intimidating financial application forms into conversational experiences that guide rather than interrogate. Each form integrates directly with Salesforce CRM, automatically capturing lead data and full application details with failsafe mechanisms so no application data is lost even if the integration temporarily fails. Manual, sometimes paper-based applications became intelligent digital experiences, and completion rates improved significantly as friction disappeared.

Intelligent Content Orchestration

We implemented Salesforce Digital Engagement to house ICFAL's help centre and knowledge base, giving the customer support team content control without developer intervention. That content orchestrates directly with FAQ and knowledge sections on the website frontend via API — eliminating duplication and ensuring customers receive consistent, accurate information. The same source of truth is ready for chatbots, mobile applications and email engagement, so the architecture supports omnichannel engagement from day one. One source, infinite touchpoints, zero duplication.

WordPress Freedom: Built for Performance and Security

We migrated ICFAL from years of WordPress security battles and performance concerns to a modern headless architecture with a Next.js frontend. The result: sub-second website performance that builds credibility, enterprise-grade security without constant vulnerability panic, and a scalable foundation for future growth.

Structured Content as an SEO Foundation

The information architecture in chapter 02 was never only about navigation. Every decision about how ICFAL's content is grouped and modelled is also a decision about how search engines understand the site. Three things did the work. The help centre became seven topic clusters, one for each finance and investment product, so the questions customers actually ask sit on pages that match the way they ask them. The calculators became landing pages in their own right, meeting high-intent searches — home repayments, stamp duty, investment returns — at the exact moment someone is working out what they can afford. And structured content modelling gave every product fact a single source, so the same information never competes with itself across duplicate pages. Performance compounded it: the sub-second load times from the headless rebuild removed the speed penalty the old site had been carrying. The result was a 45% year-on-year increase in organic traffic — not from chasing keywords, but from an architecture that answers the questions prospects actually ask.

Where This Leaves ICFAL

What ICFAL runs today is not a finished website. It is a foundation with room deliberately left in it. Content orchestration means chatbots, mobile applications and email campaigns can all draw from the same source of truth the website already uses — whether ICFAL activates those channels next quarter or in three years, the architecture is ready for them without another rebuild. Service design means the application processes can keep evolving: every form, calculator and knowledge article is a component that can change without disturbing the ones around it. And the brand this platform carries was rebuilt alongside it, so what a customer reads, sees and does all say the same thing. Twenty-five years of community trust now has digital operations to match, and the next twenty-five will not require starting over.
